Seven years of post-grad training for this?

Young fellow mildly smashes finger in dog cage, presents vaguely mangled finger tip with tiny piece of skin raised beside nail for my inspection.

YF: Should I just pull this off?

Me: On average, it's better not to pull things off your body.

LOL got a chuckle from this. Reminded me of my son around age 12-13 with a injured great toe nail. I told him, don't pick at it, leave it alone. Did he listen to Mom? Of course not.

Eventually he pulls off the toenail and much to his surprise it's bleeding quite profusely. Yells for Mom, come quick!

I run into the family room where blood is now dripping all over the carpet and he is acting like it had been amputated.
