Back away from the computer, ma'am!

Received from a patient today:

"I am still having a very upset stomach and some episodes of diarrhea (3 to 4 a day now). They are happening after each email now instead of just in the evening."

What on earth does this patient mean? Perhaps the diarrhoea germs are on her keyboard? Interested to know how you handled this one!

I dont understand it either, except this person must think there is a computer connection to diarrhea/nausea......besides germs

On another subject , is there something that you know of that keeps coming back, repeating the runny nose/sore throat that starts it all in H1N1.....movimg down to the lungs if left untreated, it keeps coming back... several times, does it just keep coming back around, it seems weird, like nothing I have ever experienced.....oooooOOOOOOoooooooo, that is suppose to be the sci-fi sound....

I actually think she meant to type "meals" but she was working on an e-mail, so the flying fingers typed e-mail instead.

Anon, these respiratory illnesses that 'keep coming back' are either: 1) new viral illnesses and/or 2)a post-infectious cough (meaning a persistent cough after an illness due to residual inflammation in the airways, also applies to ongoing sore throat and congestion, all of which long outlast the actual illness) and/or 3) a secondary bronchitis and sinus infection following the viral illness. Your doctor should be able to sort out what's what for you.

I have the same thing Anon 1 has and I am SICK of it. 4 weeks of unwellness. My husband and son are about to boot me out of the house with my night time coughing. Ugh.
